The shoot was inspired by the story of Branwen the Welsh princess from the Mabinogi stories. The theme of loss is prevalent within the ancient tale where Branwen loses her son during a battle between Wales and Ireland, shortly after she died of heartbreak. This is then replicated through comparing the loss of the mining industry within Wales, hence the locations of The beautiful Dinorwic quarry.
